Nymphalidae Systematics Group

The subfamily APATURINAE

The subfamily Apaturinae has been a stable grouping, though its rank has changed once or twice. It has sometimes been considered a tribe in the subfamily Nymphalinae. According to the current version of the Classification of Nymphalidae, there are 98 valid species in the subfamily placed into 20 valid genera. The group is however ripe for a global revision and the phylogenetic relationships have not been studied at all.

Checklist of species in Apaturinae

Species marked in red have not been sampled by the NSG. Samples of these would be much appreciated!
